"Her heart is pounding as she walks into the school, she feels like the walls are closing in on her.

They had never met elsewhere. She wants to ask him to take her somewhere kinder and warmer, but she doesn't dare.

"Take me, take me, take me away," she never speaks the words out loud, only whispers to herself when nobody is around to hear. It's chilly and eerie here on a Saturday night; the large building looms dark and silent. Only his small room, the vice-principal's room, is lit behind the orange curtains. He is waiting for her."

A 14-year-old girl believes her middle school’s vice-principal is in love with her. The events taking place in the nurse's office are distressing, but the letters he sends to her provide solace, until they are exposed.A 41-year-old woman is living a fulfilling life. She is a mother of two young children, has a successful career, and a loving husband. However, one day, she inexplicably initiates an investigation and is determined to understand what truly transpired.

Sarit Sardas-Trotino’s book reveals a compelling chronicle of a trauma frozen in time. In a unique and astonishing way, she manages to convey everything the little girl has trouble understanding, and the woman is afraid to see. This is a story about longing for love, the urge to hide, the need to let someone know - and the courage to choose between them.
